Over a third of all the women who work in industry live in China. The main industries of China include the production of iron, steel, machines, armaments, textiles, chemical fertilizers, processed food, toys, automobiles and electronics. Despite China’s high total of female workers in industry, it is Eastern European territories where the highest proportions of the population are female industrial workers.

Southern Asia and Asia Pacific also have relatively high numbers of women working in industry. It is the very richest and the very poorest of regions where the fewest of the world’s industrial women live.
